Perennial
https://perennialtheband.bandcamp.com
Perennial is a dance-punk three-piece from New England. Featuring Chelsey Hahn on electric organ, Chad Jewett on guitar, and Wil Mulhern on drums, the band’s sound is a kinetic collage of 60s soul, post-bop jazz, 90s post-hardcore and British Invasion garage rock. Their live sets are quick, sharp, and ferocious – 20 minute bursts of energy, with all three members in constant, whirling motion. Perennial has just released their sophomore album 'In The Midnight Hour' (produced by Chris Teti) to lovely critical praise and coverage.
Landowner
https://landowner.bandcamp.com
Western Massachusetts band Landowner play abrasively clean minimalist-punk. Singer Dan Shaw defined Landowner's sound as a drum-machine driven solo project on the Impressive Almanac cassette in 2016, and when Shaw teamed up with his current bandmates in 2017, the group made a deliberate effort to preserve that sound as a live band. The result was 2018’s Blatant LP, the inaugural release of Born Yesterday Records. In 2020 they returned with Consultant, their third full-length album. Landowner's music is built from its own unique set of blueprints, in which clean tones, abrasive minimalism, and caricatured hardcore make space for lyrics that reflect on the global systems our lives are tangled in and the dark absurdities we take for granted.
The name “Landowner” evokes images of a tough guy collecting rent, building fences into square shapes on a round planet, hoping to win the fight against nature, exhausting the soil into sand, starving to death surrounded by money, well-respected in the community, walking thanklessly through the doors that were opened to him.
Ian St. George is a multi-instrumentalist from Florence, MA. His music is a self described as “fuzz pop” with a love for infectiously catchy power pop, Robert Pollard, and fuzz pedals. Debut album “Emergency Index” out later this year:
