TRANSFORMATION features Brian Charette's dynamic Hammond organ sound with a front line of Rico Jones' saxophone and rhythm from Sylvia Cuenca. Each one is an experienced band leader and sought out sideman in New York's jazz scene. They come together to perform the music of Freddie Bryant written over the last four decades. His work is rooted in the jazz he heard growing up in New York City including many nights playing with Dr. Lonnie Smith in Harlem. His music, always blues based, eventually took a deep dive into Brazilian rhythms and his Kaleidoscope groups are a tapestry of Latin, African, New Orleans and Indian influences. TRANSFORMATION is a re-imagination of his melodies and compositions through this grooving Hammond organ group.
