Morrissey Blvd…a band that believes in the power of music as a common language, and in harnessing that power for social change. This is a band that believes music can change the world. New Bedford siblings Zan, Zoe, Henri, and Wilson Morrissey came together while jamming during a school break.  In just a few years, they’ve become a high-energy force on the South Coast music scene.

Along the way, they’ve probably done almost as many charity concerts as they have gigs for themselves.  They’ve rocked benefit concerts for immigration assistance, suicide prevention, and muscular dystrophy and to benefit the SouthCoast Cancer Center, among other causes.

Theirs is a story of how siblings communicate and bond through music.  And it’s the story of how young people today still harness the power of music for social change.

“Morrissey Blvd represents the best of what we want to see and hear from the youth of the community,” said Lee Heald, director of AHA! in New Bedford. Helena DaSilva Hughes, executive director of the Immigrants Assistance Center in New Bedford, called the band “amazing and thoughtful siblings.”

Morrissey Blvd legitimately rocks. Wilson is one helluva drummer. Henri rips on bass. Zoe is a talented keyboardist and vocalist. And Zan is simply gifted on guitar.

They play music to bring themselves closer as a family, they say, and to spread that love around the community. “It sounds cheesy, but it’s made us closer,” says Zoe. “Not many people can say they’ve been in a band with their siblings.  We’ll always have these memories.”  Added Henri, “I love what Zoe said. It’s very poetic and real.” Morrissey Blvd has begun to attract the attention of music legends and industry leaders with their music influenced by classic and contemporary R&B funk and up-tempo rock ‘n’ roll.

Morrissey Blvd’s fans now include Dr. Otis Williams, the founding member of the Temptations, Irvine Mayfield, the celebrated Grammy award-winning trumpet player from New Orleans, Ben E. King Junior of R&B royalty, and some of the most prolific contemporary producers and managers in the industry.

But more importantly Morrissey Blvd.’s electrifying enthusiasm for their music – and one another as siblings – gets audiences off their seats.  From New Orleans to Orlando, and many places in between, audiences are gob-smacked at Morrissey Blvd’s eclectic range and wholesome yet infectious up-tempo spirit.
