Muddy Ruckus

“darkly inventive americana”

Muddy Ruckus is a rock duo of “darkly inventive americana” according to the New York Music Daily. Guitarist Ryan Flaherty and drummer Erika Stahl of Portland, Maine play a grungy style of railroad indie punk delta soul blues. This stripped-down power-duo blends rootsy guitar and edgy percussion on a suitcase drum kit, and is known for a full rock band sound.

Muddy Ruckus has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Duke Robillard, James Montgomery, Cracker, Entrain, Trombone Shorty, Greg Brown, Vapors of Morphine, Enter the Haggis, Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band, Elephant Revival, Daniel Champagne, Start Making Sense, Spirit Family Reunion, The Ghost of Paul Revere, The Mallett Brothers and more.

With 3 albums and several singles under their belt, Muddy Ruckus continues to tour extensively and has rocked many festival stages including Americanafest Nashville, Mile of Music Festival in Appleton WI, Fairfest in Iowa, Festival at the Farm in Massachusetts and Arootsakoostic Music Festival in Maine, Flannel Jam in Portland, and Harry's Hoedown in Maine just to name a few.

Infectious, foot-stomping Americana tunes. Similar to the White Stripes in duo power, Muddy Ruckus delivers a full- bodied sound with nothing but a guitar and suitcase drums.
