Two current members of the Celtic Supergroup Solas combine in a beautiful intimate duo show centered around the traditional seasons of Samhain (Winter), Imbolc (Spring) Beltane (Summer) and Lúnasa (Fall).
Nuala Kennedy is one of Ireland's more beloved traditional singers whose repertoire ranges from starkly powerful ancient Irish language songs to singalong ballads and thoughtful folk songs. Alan Murray is a sought-after accompanist on guitar and bouzouki who also performs songs from his native Scotland.
This concert will showcase some new music inspired by the Celtic Calendar, as well as some well-known songs and tunes guaranteed to lift the spirits.
World renowned traditional singer and flute player Nuala Kennedy grew up playing Irish music in Dundalk, County Louth and now lives in Ennis, County Clare with her Appalachian singer husband A. J. Roach and their two young children. Her newest release (August 2024) is an atmospheric duo album of songs recorded with Eamon O’ Leary entitled ‘Hydra’. She is a musical adventurer who is recognized world-wide as a superlative performer of traditional music. Nuala joined Solas as singer for their 30th Anniversary Reunion in 2025. She has graced the cover of Irish Music Magazine, Sing Out! and appeared on the mainstage at festivals and venues around the world including Rudolstadt (GER) Celtic Connections (UK) Milwaukee Irish festival (USA) Telemark (NOR) Eurofonik (FRA) National Folk Festival (AU) and Celtic Colors (CAN). Her discography includes several releases on Nashville’s Compass Records (USA), Vertical (UK), Borealis Records (CAN) and Ta:Lik Records (NOR) as well on her independent label Under the Arch Records (IRL).
Alan Murray is a celebrated guitarist, bouzouki player, and singer from Glasgow, Scotland, known for his powerful accompaniment style and deep roots in traditional Celtic music. He began his musical journey on the whistle before transitioning to guitar and bouzouki, quickly becoming immersed in Scotland’s rich folk traditions. After relocating to the United States, he established himself as one of the most sought-after accompanists and educators in the traditional music world. With a dynamic blend of rhythm, harmony, and sensitivity to melody, Alan has toured and recorded extensively across the globe. His impressive list of collaborators includes Solas, Lúnasa, Eileen Ivers, Battlefield Band, We Banjo 3, among many others. His ability to enhance and support traditional tunes with depth and creativity has earned him widespread respect on stages and in studios worldwide.
