Yasu Suzuki Method + Fundraiser

COMMUNITY EVENT
Suggested donation is on a sliding scale of $10-50
Doors open at 6pm

Sitting at the intersection of many styles, The Yasu Suzuki Method has been offering engaging original music from the Pioneer Valley for half a decade. Their sound features creative driving acoustic guitar, engaging harmonies, Latin American percussion, rhythmic basslines, and lyrical electric guitar solos. Rooted in popular music, the band has brought their lively nuanced sound to many breweries, local festivals, such as Fall Festival, Early Apple Festival, and most recently at the main stage of the Garlic and Arts Festival.

Bandleader, songwriter, and lead singer Yasu Suzuki brings J-pop influenced creativity to a rock and funk sound, with deep ties to the Amherst community as a resident and Orchestra Director of the Amherst Regional Public Schools. Guitarist Bill Noland grew up in Amherst, plays regularly in several bands, and has authored his first book Playing With Fire. Bassist/singer Nick Laurel student-taught in ARPS and currently works at the Amherst College Library. Percussionist Nick Shaw grew up in Amherst and has led the Conjunto de Bomba at Amherst Regional High School for many years.

We are raising funds to support the Amherst Regional Music Program. Your generous donation will help with:

-Music classroom funding

classroom set of ukuleles (in need of 10), subscription to online DAW Soundtrap for students, repair of music classroom instruments including xylophones and drums.

-General repairs and maintenance for instruments:

There are so many string and band instruments that are dysfunctional, but if they can get fixed, it will be a great resource for the students who cannot afford to buy or rent the instruments.

Any funds raised beyond that will provide scholarships for Cleveland trip for all performing arts ensembles in May 2023.
